Cooling towers with a systematic approach
The cooling tower releases heat from water-cooled systems into the atmosphere. Hot water from the system reaches the cooling tower and is distributed via the tower packing (heat transfer surface). Air is drawn or pressed through the tower packing, whereby a small proportion of the water evaporates. Evaporation removes heat from the remaining water, which gathers in the cold water basin and is fed back to the system in order to absorb more heat.
